Talent Show at Clare's School

Share Day at Newington Children's Theatre Company

I would have titled this post Life Upon the Wicked Stage, but I didn’t think most of you would get the reference. And if you did, the song would stick in your head all day.

In the past couple of weeks, Clare has taken the stage twice. First was a talent show at Clare’s school, where she danced to the Jonas Brothers’ Burnin’ Up (I’m Hot, You’re Cold) with the other girls in her class. The song was nearly censored by Clare’s teacher. The girls were so good though that I don’t think anybody even listed to the lyrics. And hasn’t just about every second grader heard the Jonas Brothers already anyway?

Clare’s second stage appearance was at Newington Children’s Theatre Company where she’s been taking classes for the past eight weeks. In a pretty informal “share day” performance, she played a deer, a hippopotamus, and a robber in three different stories from around the world. She had a pretty good time with this, and she’ll probably be back in the summer or fall.

Actually Clare had a third performance too. On Wednesday night, she played “child of Jerusalem” in the Stations of the Cross at church. There weren’t any good photo ops though.
