Valentine

I’ve posted the same picture at UpTake for Valentine’s Day. It’s of the Jeff Koons exhibit on the top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art that Clare and I saw last summer. I also put up a Presidents Day post on UpTake that literally took me hours to research, write and post. So go check it out, m’okay?

Anyone doing anything romantic this weekend? And by romantic I don’t mean watching Cinderella with the kids. We’ve got a busy one planned that includes Clare’s first acting class at the theatre I’m working at. According to Nordstrom it’s also time to start shopping for First Communion dresses. Maybe Clare’s Mom and I can get a dinner alone next year.

Isn’t It Ironic

Clare was awarded a Perfect Attendance Certificate this week for being present for the first one hundred days of school this year.

Unfortunately, she was out sick on the hundred and first day when the certificates were handed out.

I also thought it was ironic that Clare’s teacher—who all year has been emphasizing that it’s time for her second graders to put babyish things behind them—gave each of the students a Valentine’s Day sippy cup as a gift. Or could that be a message?

Who knew that irony is in the second grade curriculum now?

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N

Go ahead, sing the Go-Go’s song. I know you’re thinking of it. At least if you’re as old as I am you are.

So, since we returned from vacation in early January, my posts here have been pretty rare. Like December before it, January kicked my butt. Not only was I busier with my theater gig, but I was on the sick list for a few days. That and an average January temperature of about 2 degrees kept me in my annual winter slump.

Going forward, I’ll try to be around here more often—even if it’s just to say what we’re up to and to post a picture or two.

Another place I’ll be around is the vacation blog at UpTake.com. That’s the travel search site that I’ve been blogging at for a couple of months. Today, UpTake is officially launching the blogs and has issued a press release announcing us to the world. There’s also a new About Us post where you may find a few good-looking bloggers you know.

Check out the vacation blog when you’ve got a chance. And, if you haven’t already, add us to your feed reader. Even if you’ve got as little time to read more blogs as I do, at least you can check out some vacation pictures to get through the day.
